Edit:I missed the post about the lights before sorry about that!! My parents are in town for Christmas and this is our first year staying in Austin for Christmas (instead of going to either of our families places) and we're all needing to get a little more in the holiday spirit :). Any ideas especially dog friendly ones would be GREATLY appreciated! My parents still haven't spent enough time here to really warm up to the city yet, i'm hoping we can change that :). Cheers!

Where would be the best place to find some houseplants? (strictly indoors-only, I'm not interested in outdoor plants at the moment)

Hi All, After searching through the tags with international food I could not find my answer unfortunately so I hope maybe someone can help me out. I've moved from the Netherlands to Austin about 2 months ago and I really miss some products. I already checked at whole foods and at least I could find decent bread there, which made me really happy. A lot of the products I can buy from online shops but they are insane expensive and I know the H.E.B. used to sell dutch food in the foreign isle but today i heard they took it out. Does any of you know where I could possible find dutch food? Thanks in Advance. - Alakuial

Does anyone know where I can get some boxes for moving. Preferably free? I live near Manor and Springdale (don't want to have to go too far to get them).

Does anyone know of any stores in Austin that sell tokyomilk products (perfume, soap, etc.)? I would like to buy something for a friend, but it's most likely too late for shipping by Christmas (or at least it would be an exorbitant extra fee for quicker shipping). Here are some websites with tokyomilk stuff: http://www.tokyo-milk.com/http://www.beautyhabit.com/tokyomilk_parfums.htmlTHANKS!

I'm hoping to be able to find 2-3 sets of scrubs in the next week or so...does anybody know a good uniform or medical supply store where I can find them for cheap without compromising on quality? I'm on the petite side, if that helps any. Thanks!

...but a totally different issue. Apparently TWC's contract with Fox in Austin and a few other cities is going to expire (kind of like KXAN a while back). I'm sure they'll end up working something out (meaning rates will go up), but starting Jan 1st, we may have no Fox (except through digi-rabbit ears. Here is a link to the Keep Fox On Website.

I couldn't help but notice that a giant Menorah was lit at the capital a few days ago when I was down there. Is it actually on state property? Who is sponsoring this? It strikes me as a separation of church and state issue - I mean, people get into a tizzy when there are nativity scenes on state grounds, but I haven't heard a peep about the 10 foot menorah.

My Time Warner bill for my Inter- net service this month is higher by about 4 dollars than it has been for the last several years. I received no notice prior to this that my monthly fee was being raised. When I call Cus- tomer Service, the helpful and friendly automated voice system disconnects me as soon as I try to reach a live operator. Anyone have any insight about any of this?

Since I'll be in Austin far away from family for the holidays this year, I wanted to volunteer at a soup kitchen or something similar for Christmas Day. I sent an email to Angel House and got no response, anyone know of a place that needs an extra pair of hands and a willing heart this year? South or Central preferred, only because of the limited bus schedule on Christmas.
